Britain’s leading monthly current affairs magazine, Prospect, is the latest title to launch on Pugpig Bolt.
The new app is part of a push to bolster subscriptions amongst new and existing readers and tap into a younger and increasingly diverse, digitally-savvy audience.
The new app is packed full of engaging features and functionalities including beautifully responsive HTML editions plus the latest content timelines pulled from the website. And it’s a home for the podcasts including Media Confidential, the Prospect Podcast, and Prospect Lives.
The app also houses the complete archive of 28 years’ worth of print and digital stories, allowing readers to access Prospect’s independent, balanced analysis and in-depth journalism while on-the-go.
Engaging content timelines & text-to-speech
Thanks to Pugpig Bolt’s Timeline Layouts plugin, content timelines are visual and easy for readers to navigate while giving Prospect’s editorial team even more control about how and what content is surfaced within the timelines.
Each article is also available as text-to-speech audio thanks to Bolt’s Amazon Polly plugin, while also clearly displaying read times and the ‘save’ icon for users who want to read later.
Driving digital subscriptions
Through Bolt’s integration with leading subscriptions platform, Piano, the app allows users that buy in-app purchases to link their accounts to ensure they can access all of Prospect’s content, including the website.
Readers who aren’t subscribed can access two free articles a day before reaching an easy-to-navigate metered paywall – also driven through Bolt’s Piano integration.
Mark Beard, CEO at Prospect, said:
“The new app is an important milestone in Prospect’s digital transformation, and we’re delighted to be launching it with Pugpig. It showcases Prospect’s quality journalism at a time when trustworthy editorial is more important than ever. And it provides a reading and listening experience that ensures a subscription to Prospect represents excellent value for money.
The process from inception to launch was a seamless collaboration and I’m delighted that the app was launched on time and within budget.”
Dom Easter, Commercial Director at Pugpig, said:
“Team Pugpig and Prospect worked closely over a number of weeks to conceive, build, iterate and launch their new mobile app which forms part of their digital transformation strategy. It’s been a successful launch which was delivered on time against an ambitious timeline and we’re looking forward to what comes next for Pugpig and Prospect.”
The app is available to download on both iOS and Google Play app stores. Get in touch if you’d like more information on any features mentioned in this article or if you’d like to request a demo.
