The seventh largest newspaper in the US goes with Pugpig to deliver its most significant mobile launch to date.

The new app, fully integrated with the ArcXP publishing platform, features a rich mix of web content, breaking news, live in-match sports scores, audio, video, reader commenting and puzzles.

It also offers an enhanced PDF print replica which allows readers to switch between print and mobile first content at the tap of a button.

Focus on multimedia

When discussions around the app first took place between Pugpig and The Boston Globe, one key requirement of the app was that it must go far beyond a simple digital replica, and that video must be at the heart of the proposition. As such, the ‘watch’ section within the app provides a home for their brand new Boston Globe TV video channel which broadcasts the city’s top stories once a day.

The app is integrated with The Boston Globe’s own subscriptions platform to manage in-app purchases and account linking, and uses Bolt’s paywall to restrict content for unregistered users.
