Exciting news! The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Minnesota Star Tribune apps, both built on Pugpig Bolt, have been recognised as finalists for ‘Best New Digital Product’ at the INMA Global Media Awards 2025.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution app plays a key role in the title’s mission to re-invent their 155-year legacy and become a modern media company. Since launching in early 2024, the app has continuously exceeded milestones, driving paid subscriptions and boosting user engagement and retention.
For The Star Tribune, app engagement has been through the roof since launching as part of their digital transformation in the summer of 2024. The app has seen rapid adoption – it saw over 45,000 downloads in the first 48 hours of launch, and currently over 40% of their user base have the app downloaded.
Two Pugpig apps shortlisted as finalists for a second year running is a testament to our brilliant, forward-thinking customers and Team Pugpig’s hard work and commitment – we’re really proud to be able to collaborate so closely with our customers to build world-class mobile apps.
Another Pugpig publisher, Australian Community Media, was also shortlisted in the Best Product Iteration category for embracing the shift to digital and driving paid subscriptions with their new digital + weekend print model.
The INMA Global Media Awards celebrate the best innovations in news media worldwide. The ‘Best New Digital Product’ category highlights outstanding new platforms that enhance how audiences consume news in the digital age.
The winners will be announced at the INMA Global Media Awards Ceremony in New York on 22nd May. We’re excited to celebrate with the industry’s best and look forward to seeing who takes home the top prize.
Stay tuned for updates, and congratulations to all finalists (see the full list here).
